The Arts Council's Visual Art Exhibits
project is the presentation of seven visual arts and fine craft shows. Of special
significance this year will be Northwest Designer Craftsmen, Joseph Kinnebrew Exhibit,
a juried art show, and the Art of Mathematics Exhibit with student field trips. Exhibits
are installed in the lobby and mezzanine of the Monte Cristo, and feature festive "meet
the artists" opening receptions, with music when possible. All exhibits are free to the
public and reflect a variety of themes for broader appeal. Funds will be used to help with
costs of presenting free visual art exhibits and events.
Children's Museum 1500-2500 $1,000 $1,000 $850
Cider in the City. Cider in the City "Main Stage/Artists in Action" will feature performers
representing the arts and culture of Snohomish County. Through this event and these
performances the Museum hopes to expose children and families to art, performance
and culture along with providing hands-on interactive activities and experiences. The
event brings hundreds of children and family members to Everett and the "Main Stage"
is a prime component bringing the performing arts directly to the children. Activities will
include Antique Cider Pressing, Scarecrow Making Contests, Food and Music. Most
important of all, this community-wide event is free to the public. "Artists in Action" brings
local artists to share their talents with the children and integrates the visual arts into
Cider in the City. Funds will be used to pay visual artist fees.
Cocoon House 150 $2,179 $1,050 $500
Butterfly Murmurs. The youth will be
involved in all parts of the production process, including graphic design and post-
production. When the CD is completed, Cocoon Complex youth will invite the
community to share in its release. The release party will also feature youth
performances and artwork.
