The Everett Chorale will present a concert of"American <br /> Choral Classics" as the second subscription program in their 2002/2003 "All American <br /> Choral Season". The first half of the concert will feature Aaron Copland's cantata "In <br /> The Beginning" for a cappella choir and mezzo-soprano soloist. Diane Radabaugh, an <br /> outstanding artist from Lynnwood, WA, has been engaged to perform the difficult soloist <br /> part and Seattle artist Vaho Muskheli has been commissioned to create artwork, which <br /> will be projected on stage during the performance. The balance of the program will <br /> feature lighter music with spirituals and songs from musical comedy. Funds will assist in <br /> payment of performer fees. <br /> Everett Parks & Recreation 21,000 $76,650 $8,500 $6,000 <br /> Music in the Parks. Each year, the Everett Parks and Recreation Department invites <br /> residents and visitors to enjoy free musical entertainment staged against a backdrop of <br /> beautiful park and civic settings. Through its promotion of the performing arts, Music in <br /> the Parks serves as a major source of cultural enrichment for Everett and the <br /> surrounding area. It is an integral part of building a healthy community by bonding <br /> citizens with their neighborhoods and by providing them with the opportunity to spend <br /> quality time together. Funds will assist in payment of performer fees. <br /> Everett Symphony Orchestra 17,000 $32,450 $7,000 $2,500 <br /> Professional Artistic Fees for Guest Artists. The Everett Symphony's mission is to <br /> provide music of excellence and beauty, while presenting performances infused with <br /> musical energy, creativity and diversity. Our project is to provide our community with the <br /> opportunity to hear superior quality guest artists. Additional goals are met by this <br /> project: music education, cultivating the love of music, and enhancing the quality of life <br /> in our community by bringing world class artists to perform right here in Everett. We will <br /> be showcasing 215 guest artists, including a presentation of the Nutcracker by the <br /> Olympic Ballet Theatre and collaborative concerts with the Everett Chorale and Kamiak <br /> High School orchestra. Two of our concerts include educational programming for <br /> younger listener's K-6 grades. Opportunities to attend our concerts are offered to youth <br /> at risk and their families in Everett and surrounding areas. Our diverse music selection <br /> often includes classical, opera, ballet, pops, jazz, country and rock. Our performances <br /> appeal to families, seniors, and persons of all ages and backgrounds. Funds will be <br /> used to pay fees for guest artists. <br /> Everett Women's Film 400 $6,950 $550 $550 <br /> Festival <br /> Everett Women's Film Festival. The program is a screening of films by women <br /> directors. Although many films have won awards, they are not readily available in movie <br /> theaters or video outlets. The committee is currently screening films for the 2003 <br /> festival. An additional feature of the festival is a speaker on some aspect of the <br /> program. Funds will assist with rental costs for the Historic Everett Theatre. <br /> U <br />
