Every year the four orchestras of <br /> the Everett Youth Symphony present three concerts, traditionally at the Everett Civic <br /> Auditorium. Each of our orchestras will perform several pieces of music, led by the <br /> professional conductors. Not only are the students prepared to perform the music with <br /> skill, they are also taught all the facets of public performance and teamwork within an <br /> orchestra. In addition, the musicians and the audience are introduced to all types of <br /> classical music and composers. Funds would be used to pay for the use of the Everett <br /> Civic Auditorium for three public concerts. <br /> Northwest Savoyards 6,000 $80,200 $1,000 $400 <br /> Broadway: "Cinderella", Children's show: "Tom Sawyer": Debut Theatre has <br /> merged with our organization, a theater organization whose main objective is theater for <br /> children. Projects this year are "Cinderella" and "Tom Sawyer", with two more projects <br /> to be determined. Thus, two of our four productions will be for children. Funds <br /> requested are to defray expense of rental space for scene shop and set storage. <br /> Olympic Ballet Theatre 950 I $60,269 I $4,000 $900 <br /> 2003 Season at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Peter& the Wolf is the musical <br /> tale by Prokofiev, introducing children to the instruments of the orchestra. Madeline and <br /> the Bad Hat at the Circus, set to Gabriel Faure's "Dolly Suite," is the creation of Artistic <br /> Director John Wilkins and is based upon Madeline of children's storybook fame. A <br /> lecture/demonstration is included, introducing young audiences to elements of theatre, <br /> dance, including lighting, props, sets, ballet technique, and the various musical <br /> instruments and melodies. School day matinees are scheduled in addition to regular <br /> shows, encouraging school groups to attend. Choreography Showcase features an <br /> eclectic array of new works-across the spectrum of classical to contemporary- by local <br /> professional and emerging choreographers. Funds will be used to pay promotional and <br /> artistic expenses. <br /> Olympic Ballet Theatre 1000 $120,000 $2,000 $700 <br /> Festival 2003, Regional Dance America/Pacific. Regional Dance America has <br /> promoted the development of dance companies throughout the United States since <br /> 1956. RDA now comprises over 200 companies in 5 geographic regions. The Pacific <br /> region, covering the Pacific Coast states as well as Arizona and Utah, will send some <br /> 600 dancers from more than 20 companies to study and perform in Everett at Festival <br /> 2003. In addition to three evening performances, there will be 20-25 master classes and <br /> seminars daily (including one on board development by D. David Brown, Executive <br /> Director of Pacific Northwest Ballet) and a resource center staffed by a sports medicine <br /> orthopedist, a podiatrist, physical therapist, and pointe shoe expert.
