Exhibit A
2.3—EWPS Upstream Piping Evaluation (City)
• Evaluate condition of suction piping for EWPS. City staff will provide piping
age and verify piping configuration.
• Identify suction piping capacity using hydraulic analysis. Update the City's
existing hydraulic analysis model with detailed suction piping information
provided by the City.
• Hydraulic transient analyses are not included in work activities identified
under Phase 1. If required, hydraulic transient analyses will be performed as
part of final design activities, after final station capacities and piping
configurations have been identified.
2.4—EWPS Upgrade Alternatives (City)
Work activities associated with Task 2.4 are focused on identifying and evaluating
alternatives for providing required future capacity at the existing EWPS. Three
alternatives will be evaluated:
• Construct a new pump station within the confines of the existing Evergreen
Way site. This alternative would optimize number and capacity of future
pumps and motors, electrical components and appurtenant valves and piping.
• Upgrade the existing EWPS to provide future capacity needs focusing on the
following components:
• Pumps—required capacities and staging for optimal efficiency
• Motors
• Impellers/Cans (determine if these need to be replaced or if the existing
ones can be modified).
• Identify required structural, mechanical (including in-station valving
and piping), and electrical improvements/expansion associated with
each alternative.
• Identify valve and related equipment maintenance, repair and
operations issues.
• Expand the existing structure to provide additional room for new pumps,
motors and electrical switchgear. This alternative would evaluate:
• Optimal number and configuration of new pumps, motors and electrical
switchgear.
• Identification of required valving, piping and mechanical equipment.
• Evaluation of comparative capital and 0 & M costs, operations issues
and permitting considerations associated with use of diesel or natural
gas drives on new pumps in lieu of electric motors.
• Evaluation of rehabilitation requirements of existing aged pumps,
motors and mechanical equipment.
Db
Phase I Scope(2/28/03) 3
