New concrete inlets were installed at various locations along this two-block <br /> portion of South 2°d Avenue_ The existing inlets were sub standard,brick and mortar,and very shallow_ <br /> item#11—Roadway Excavation. The number of cubic yards of roadway excavation estimated in the bid <br /> proposal were exceeded during construction of the project. <br /> Item#16—Crushed Surfacing Base Course. The tons of crushed surfacing base course exceeded the <br /> original estimated amount.Additional tons of crushed surfacing top course were used when installing the <br /> new additional storm pipe identified under item#29 and#41. <br /> Item#20—Asphalt Concrete Drive. Tons of asphalt concrete drive exceeded the original estimated <br /> amount <br /> Item#29—Ductile Iron Pipe for Storm Drain, 12-Inch Diameter. Additional linear feet of ductile iron <br /> pipe for storm drain, 12-inch diameter,were installed on the Meridian Avenue portion of the project as <br /> additional concrete inlets were needed to collect surface water in several low spots to prevent water <br /> ponding along the pedestrian pathway. <br /> Item#32—Adjust InleUCatch Basin To Grade. The existing substandard brick inlets were replaced with <br /> new inlets.This decreased the number of adjustment of existing inlet/catch basins to grade. <br /> Item#40—Force Account. This bid item could have been used to pay for the additional unforeseen work <br /> involved in added bid items 41 &42. Documentation of force account work activities is detailed and time <br /> consuming. In this instance unit prices were agreed upon in bid items 41 &42,thus eliminating the need to <br /> monitor the added work on a time and material basis <br /> Item#41—8-Inch and 12-Inch PVC Storm Sewer Pipe. See justification for item#9 above_ <br /> Item#42—Concrete Inlet See justification for item#9 above_ Also additional concrete inlets were <br /> installed along Meridian Avenue. See justification for item#29 above. <br /> Work Order 3077—37th Street Improvements West of Rucker Avenue <br /> Item#4—Traffic Control Labor.
