N <br /> 2 <br /> `-H <br /> #0.11°'' <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending the City's License Code for the regulation <br /> of hotels and motels,amending Chapter 25 of. <br /> Ordinance No.295-74 as amended (EMC 5.100) <br /> Whereas,the City Council of the City of Everett finds that current statistics demonstrate that <br /> some overnight lodging facilities are responsible for a disproportionate share of police calls for <br /> service; and <br /> Whereas,the City Council of the City of Everett finds that those overnight lodging facilities that <br /> have initiated aggressive crime prevention measures have found them to be effective deterrents <br /> to crime; and <br /> Whereas,the City Council of the City of Everett finds that there is a wide difference in levels of <br /> police service required by individual overnight lodging facilities within that business group; and <br /> Whereas,the City Council of the City of Everett finds that the type, severity, and frequency of <br /> criminal calls at overnight lodging facilities that have experienced significant criminal activity <br /> are a real and compelling concern to the City,the citizens of Everett, visitors to Everett, and the <br /> overnight lodging industry itself; and <br /> Whereas,the City Council of the City of Everett finds that it is reasonable to require those <br /> overnight lodging facilities with higher levels of police calls for service to employ certain <br /> measures designed to assist in deterring crime as a condition for business license approval within <br /> the City; and <br /> Whereas,the City Council of the City of Everett finds that it is reasonable to subject those <br /> overnight lodging facilities with higher levels of police calls for service to a corresponding <br /> increased fee structure to compensate for the additional services provided by the City; and <br /> Whereas,the City Council of the City of Everett finds that the police department has identified <br /> and recommended certain measures which have been demonstrated to effectively deter crime; <br /> and <br /> 3 <br />
