6 <br /> EVERETT PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br /> BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS MEETING <br /> Tuesday, April 23, 2002 3:30 p.m. <br /> Horticulture Center Legion Park <br /> The Everett Parks& Recreation Board of Park Commissioners met at the Horticulture <br /> Center at Legion Park, Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at 3:30 p.m. <br /> PARK COMMISSIONERS PRESENT—Randy Ayers, Betty Cobbs, and Dick Wendt <br /> were present. Gary Stormo, Gretchen Shaffer, Jo Metzger-Levin and ArthurGrossman <br /> were excused. <br /> PARKS STAFF PRESENT—Bob Cooper, Dan Staple, Jay Magill, Lori Cummings, <br /> Penny Merkley, Libbie Soden, Hal Gausman, Hank Bowman, Jill Cramer, Craig Callies, <br /> Carolyn Johnston, Pachia Arway, Shuni Routh, Bill Quinlan and Betty Ronning. <br /> ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES - <br /> Meeting minutes of April 9, 2002 were approved as presented. <br /> APPEARANCE OF INTERESTED CITIZENS - <br /> Stu Nicol, Howard Shaw, Jerry Wester, Elaine Grace, Mary Earlich, Valerie Steel, Elle <br /> Ray and Bill Belshaw. <br /> REVIEW ACTION ITEM LIST– <br /> Bob reported that the Judd & Black Part site for an off leash exercise area has been <br /> scrubbed. Park Maintenance Superintendent Hank Bowman stated that the site did not <br /> meet the standards of an off leash park for dogs and that staff will look elsewhere to <br /> locate another site. <br /> COMMISSIONER'S REPORTS - <br /> Commissioner Betty Cobbs extended her thanks to everyone for the roles they played in <br /> the renovation of Wiggums Hollow Park; and added that the Grand Re-opening was a <br /> wonderful event and well attended. Betty said she has driven past the park every day and <br /> sees the park full of people. Betty, who is the principal at nearby Hawthorne Elementary <br /> School,related a story about the tardy children they have had since the park opened, that <br /> they are stopping by the park on their way to school in the morning and lose track of <br /> time. Betty said that the children would be reminded in a week or so that they must be on <br /> time for school. <br /> Commissioner Dick Wendt commented that the trees on Mukilteo Boulevard were very <br /> pretty. <br /> Randy Ayers–No report.. <br /> S:\#Common\Administration\PARK BD\m20020423.doc - <br />
