6 <br /> COUNCIL LIAISON'S REPORT- <br /> Councilman Arlan Hatloe thanked everyone involved in the Wiggums Hollow Park <br /> Renovation and Grand Opening. <br /> STAFF REPORTS <br /> Bob Cooper, Parks Director: <br /> 1. Extended his thanks to Mayor Hansen,Arlan and the City Council for their support of <br /> the renovation of Wiggums Hollow Park. He also thanked Parks Staff for all they did <br /> on the project, and particularly Hal Gausman who managed the Wiggums Hollow <br /> Park project. Bob stated that there is still some work to do before the project is <br /> completed. Betty Cobbs announced that she was going to San Francisco for a <br /> presentation the school is going to do about the project. <br /> 2. Reported on the tour of the First Tee course in Arizona that he and Ed Adrian, Golf <br /> Supervisor II, made with Councilmen Dale Pope and Arlan Hatloe. A First Tee <br /> Committee meeting was held April 1 to discuss the development of a First Tee <br /> Program in Everett. The next meeting is scheduled for May 6 at the Walter E. Hall <br /> Golf Course Meeting Room at 5 p.m. Gretchen Shaffer and Gary Stormo are the Park <br /> Board Liaisons. Councilman Hatloe stated he was impressed with the program and <br /> it's goals, that it is more than golf He said it would be nice to see a course in <br /> Everett. Dick Wendt requested that the Board could see the pictures of the tour at the <br /> next meeting. Betty Cobbs said she would like to see a real effort to reach low- <br /> income youth. Bob stated that was one of the program's goals. <br /> 3. Bob announced that he intends to retire from the City effective June 1, 2002. He said <br /> he enjoyed working with the Commission members and extended his thanks to them <br /> for all they have done. Bob also announced that Betty Ronning will retire effective <br /> June 28, 2002. <br /> Lori Cummings, Recreation Superintendent, introduced Shuni Routh, a student from <br /> Western Washington University who is interning at Parks. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> None <br /> AGENDA <br /> A. SILVER LAKE USE REQUEST FOR SALTY SEA DAYS REGATTA <br /> The Seattle Outboard Association applied for a permit to hold the 2002 Salty Sea Days <br /> Regatta on Silver Lake on June 8 from noon to 6 p.m. <br /> According to Ordinance 1183-85 a formal permit process by organizations requesting <br /> permission to hold events on Silver Lake is required. A public hearing before the Park <br /> Commission is part of this permit process. Following the public hearing and Park <br /> Commission decision, a recommendation is sent to City Council for final approval. <br /> Park staff requested Commission approval to proceed with a Public Hearing on April 23. <br /> The Commission's decision is based on testimony as a result of the public hearing. <br /> 21 <br /> S:\#Common\Administration\PARK BD\m20020423.doc <br />
