Snohomish County Human Services <br /> Weatherization-Related Minor Home Repair <br /> The Snohomish County Department of Human Services, through the low-income weatherization and <br /> repair program, will provide minor home repair services to low-income homeowners in Everett who are <br /> also receiving weatherization services. The provision of minor home repair services will allow the <br /> weatherization program to more completely weatherize a home or to solve health and safety concerns <br /> found within the home. This program will have oversight from the CHIP program. <br /> 2003 appropriated funds $17,500.00 <br /> 14. Housing Hope— College of Hope <br /> CDBG funds will be used for the provision of life skills and employment training for homeless and at- <br /> risk households. The College of Hope program has been developed through a four agency <br /> partnership designed to help homeless families secure compensation in key areas essential to self- <br /> sufficiency. <br /> 2003 appropriated funds $17,000.00 <br /> 15. Senior Services of Snohomish County- Minor Home Repair <br /> This program provides for the provision of minor and emergency repairs to lower income elderly and <br /> handicapped homeowners citywide. Minor Home Repair fills a serious gap in housing rehabilitation for <br /> persons requiring emergency and minor home repairs. <br /> 2003 appropriated funds $67,500.00 <br /> 16. Center for Career Alternatives— Career Readiness Program <br /> Career Readiness provides academic instruction, work readiness instruction, case management, <br /> enrichment activities and assistance in obtaining employment or post secondary education for dropout <br /> youth. CDBG funds will be used to fund a new teaching assistant position and would provide services <br /> for an additional ten low-income Everett residents <br /> 2003 appropriated funds $11,000.00 <br /> 17. Habitat for Humanity— Lot Acquisition <br /> With these CDBG funds, Habitat for Humanity will acquire a property located at 1917 19th Street for <br /> their third project within the City of Everett. Once the lot is purchased, Habitat will construct housing <br /> for low-income people using a combination of donated services and sweat equity. <br /> 2002 appropriated funds $40,000.00 <br /> 15. Evergreen Manor—2017 Colby Acquisition <br /> The House at 2017 Colby Avenue will be used as transitional housing for homeless men transitioning <br /> from stages of chemical dependency treatment. The house will provide short-term housing while <br /> formerly homeless individuals are locating employment and permanent housing. <br /> 2003 appropriated funds $40,000.00 <br /> 7 <br />
