J 3 ,IIIP CITY OF EVERETTot.1.14°Ilm F - CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION NO. 5784 ��' :;.,�. 77 A Resolution of the Everett City Council expressing support for "EVERYONE AT HOME NOW" A Strategy for ending Homelessness in Snohomish County,Washington by 2016 WHEREAS,the City of Everett is interested in cooperating and working with Snohomish County, cities in Snohomish County, the State of Washington,the federal government, public housing authorities, non profit organizations, faith based organizations, and the business community on the goal to end homelessness, and WHEREAS, addressing the social issue of homelessness is an immense challenge which needs solutions which are community wide and involves a cooperative effort, and WHEREAS, homelessness erodes the stability and well-being of residents in Snohomish County and the City of Everett, and WHEREAS,the causes of homelessness are numerous and complex, and WHEREAS, it is highly desirable to prevent homelessness as the most cost effective solution, and WHEREAS,there is a need to increase the number of affordable housing units countywide for low income families. WHEREAS,the Everett City Council finds: 1. The government agencies, public housing authorities, non profit organizations, faith based organizations, and the business community should be commended on their participatory efforts and vision in the document: "EVERYONE AT HOME NOW" A Strategy for ending Homelessness in Snohomish County, Washington by 2016. 2. There is a need to work together cooperatively on the issue of homelessness and to work on a countywide solution where housing for low income is available through out Snohomish County. 3. Since homelessness and housing are a countywide issue Everett will work cooperatively to accommodate its fair share of the countywide need for housing. 1
