My new residence at 3412 Beil Avenue in ��erett was car�leted in early 1487. A new residence at 3415 Bell Avenue, whi.ch i�i adjacent to ndne on the south and uphill, was also ca�leted at approximately the same time. 'ifie esclosed photograph sheets show the rc'-taining �,all that. I was reauired to have built so that 3916 Sell could expand tl�eir 50 foot wide site to its maxLrwn. However, I have cane to love this concrnte well and fence. One of my ooncems is that Mr. Budder.� required my carpenters to use nuts and holts in constructing my decks a� the ba:;is of passible c:arthqualce. A[�parently, he felt the earthquak� would not extend to i416 Bell as he allowed the use of nails in the decks at that residence. Photograph A1 shows the deck of 3416 Hell prior to mnpletion. 1'he limiber in tt� forefmnt was mist�lcenly delivered to mY hane. You will note betwee . the second and third shruU frcm the left, the footing for t)�e expansi ,n of this deck and the topo9raphy in general. Yiiotograph #2 shavs the conpleted deck at 3416 I3e11 Avenue and the ra:kery. It is difficult to note the vrount of flll but the posts providing the base for the deck ate in sand and fill for two-to-four feet. 7fiis deck has settled once already and crorrection appeared tr� c�nsf.st of using a longer nail after raising the deck back into level. I suggested, in writing, on several ocr.asions, to the auner of 3416 Bell that I �„ould be happy if they replaced my shrubs which they had killed and mlocate.: �he second fran left, tnp n�, ecology block �photograph #3) .
