After hearing the public testimony at the public hearing on June <br /> 28 , 1988, the City Council made the followinq findinqs: <br /> a. That the use of other crematoriums by Everqreen Funeral Home <br /> may be cancelled in the future. <br /> b. That the exclusion of the applicant's crematorium may be <br /> discriminatory. <br /> c. That the existence of other crematorium services in the City, <br /> by qranting the permit will assure that said services may be <br /> more competitive. <br /> d. Thnt families of deceased persona may be more comfortable <br /> with crematorium services available at the funeral home where <br /> • they have brouqht their loved ones. <br /> CONCLUSIOIIs <br /> 1. Evergreen Funeral Home submitted a request for the construction <br /> of a crematoriwa on their existing funeral home and cemetery <br /> site. Pursuant to the provisions of E![C 19.58.O10.C.2, a Special <br /> property Use Permit is required for the propoanl. <br /> 2. The appeal is an appeal of the Hearinq Examinsr's decision which <br /> denied the Special Prcperty Use Permit. Tha Heerinq Examiner <br /> concluded tha�t the Applicant could meet the criteria of <br /> compatibility and environmental impact, but did not show that the <br /> use would �eat the public need criteria. <br /> 7. At the public henring on June 28, 1988, the City Council found <br /> that the crematorium will serve the public convenience and <br /> necessity. <br /> DBCISION <br />' The City Council reverses the Hearing Examiner's Conclusion N6 , <br /> reverses the Hearinq Examiner's decision, and direct:; approval of SFU <br /> N2-88 subject to the condition� recommended by the Planning <br /> Department, which are as follows: <br /> 1.
