s -
Narrative statement:
Purpose: To address the reasonable alterations of the current landscape to provide a sufficient building pad for
my new home.
The original plan was to construct a large retaining wall to support a building pad for the new home which
would have more negative affect of the area than positive. The alternative was to bring in structural fill dirt to
smooth out the landscape making it more usable and eliminating current conditions. I met with the neighbors to
go over my ideas, get their feedback and keep them actively involved with the project. After all, they will be
my future neighbors. The goals I wanted to address were to remove potential hazards in the area and lay out a
plan that would benefit all parties involved (Myself, neighbors and City of Everett). This included providing
me with a suitable building location, eliminating hazardous steep slopes, removing unsightly and potentially
hazardous street run-off and providing all parties with usable land for yards and such.
There currently are exposed street water run-off pipes on the adjacent property which deposit chemical and
physical contaminants such as oil and litter onto the properties. Along with bringing in the fill dirt to alleviate
the steep slopes, the run-off pipes would be routed underground and extended to the end of the property where a
• collection drain is located. This will remove the unsightly pipes from view and minimize the contaminants
deposited on the three sites. More detailed information can be found in the geotechnical report and on the site
plan.
