Section 36.200 of the Zoning Code establishes the provisions for the removal of <br />nonconforming signs when a new sign is proposed on site. Section 36.030 of the Zoning <br />Code establishes a list of signs which are prohibited, including balloons and portable <br />signs which fail to meet the standards for portable signs established in Section 36.140. <br />The site at 8015 Broadway has been subject to Code Compliance action in the recent <br />months due to a portable readerboard sign which violated Section 36.140 of the Zoning <br />Code. The sign was subsequently removed, but was placed back on site. As of today <br />the portable sign has been removed, along with the balloons which frequently are placed <br />on site. <br />Your letter indicated you were familiar with the City Sign Ordinance and would continue <br />to ensure compliance of all signs on your site. In conjunction with the issuance of the <br />new sign permit for the pole sign for the site, the two existing pole signs must be <br />removed. In addition, portable signs are limited to one per site, and must be located <br />wholly on the property they are advertising and not exceed eight square feet in area. <br />There are currently four sandwich board signs on site, which must be made to comply <br />with this provision.
