A two-story atrium does not require smoke <br />control or a fire barrier, per the attached interpretation from the IBC issued in 2008. The <br />2009 IBC code sections have not changed in intent fro�r the 2006 IBC code sections referenced <br />in <br />the interpretation. You can still call it a two-story atrium, without <br />fire barriers, '�ased on this interpretation. <br />The opening to the first floor does need more detail on the plans per the corrections letter. <br />Meg <br />
