GLASS AND GLAZING SECTION OB 81 00 - 5 <br />1. Dense Compression Seal: ASTM C 864, neoprene, EPDM. or Ihermoplastic polyolefin <br />rubber. <br />2. Cellular Elastomeric Preformed: ASTM C 509, Type II, extruded or molded neoprene. <br />B. Glazing Tape: ASTM 1193 bulyl-polyisobutylene prelormed; continuous spacer rod as <br />recommended by manufacturers of tape and giass for installation. <br />C. Cleaners, Primers and Sealers: Type recommended by manu(acturer ot gaskets, and tape. <br />D. Blocks and Spacers: Neoprene, EPDM or silicone as necessary for compatibility with glazing <br />sealants. <br />Hardness: 90 Shore A for setting blocks, and as recommended by �la=s ar.d sealant <br />manufacturers. <br />E. Filler Rods: Closed-celi synthetic rubber, or plastic foam, 25 percent compression at five to ten <br />psi. <br />F. Provide fire rated and other specialty accessory components as necessary for required <br />pertormance oi tire rated glazing assem6lies. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.1 EXAMINATION <br />A Inspect glass prior to and during installation; discard pieces with edge characteristics that could <br />al(ect glass performance. <br />B. Examine (rames to receive glazing for compliance with recommended tolerances, tace and <br />edge clearances, and general proper installation. �btify Contractor in writing of unacceplable <br />conditions, and do not proceed with glazing where conditions have not been corrected. <br />3.2 INSTALLATION <br />A. Comply with FGMA Glazing Manual, and insVuc�ions of manufacturers of glass, and gaskels, <br />to achieve air, and waterti9ht performance. <br />t. Provide salety glazing in individual lights, laminated and insuiated glazing units per <br />System Description requirements. <br />B. Pr�vent damage to glass edges during inslallation. Use rolling blocks, suction cups, wedges <br />and other devices tor proper handling of glass. <br />C. Set units of glass in each series with uniformity of pattern, draw, bow and similar <br />characteristics. <br />1. GL-6: Install iaminaled units with clear iloat layer oriented towards the corridor and <br />patterned glass oriented towards ihe o(fice. <br />D. Setting Blocks: Properly sized tor glazing unit; locate at quarter points ot unit width. <br />E. Cleaning: As recommended by glass tabricator and manu(acturer.
