2. The materials shali be proportioned es�to provfde a lean concrete containing a <br /> minimum of 1 1/2 sacks of cement per cubic yard of concrete. <br /> 2.03 EQUIPMENT <br /> A. Augering Equfpment <br /> 1. General: Auger holes for piles with continuous flight hollow ahaft auger of <br /> sufficient length to auger holes to indicated depths oi the type generally used for <br /> installat(on of auger-placed, grout inJecfed piling. <br /> 2. The injection opening in the auger shaft shali be at the bottom of auger head <br /> below the cutting teeth. The minimum inside diameter of the hollow ahaft of the <br /> auger flight shall be 1 1/4lnches. Concrete grout Injection equipment shall be <br /> provided with a pressure gage in clear view of the eqwpment operator. <br /> 3. Auger Mounting: The auger shall be mounted to ensure the accurate alignment I� <br /> of the auger flight at all times during the eugering operetion. Leads shell be <br /> arranged to prevent the twfsting of the leada about the auper axis. At leaet two <br /> guides shall be provided with the lead. One shall be flxed at the lower end of the <br /> leads and the other shall siide on the leads midway fn the above-ground portion ot <br /> the s�uger flight. <br /> 4. The euger hoisting equipment shall be capable of withdrawing the auger smoothly <br /> and at a constant rate. <br /> B. Pumping Equipment <br /> 1. General: Use only approved pumping and mixing equipment for the preparation <br /> and handling of concrete grout. Remove ali oil or other rust inhibitore and <br /> contaminanta from mixing drums and grout pumps. <br /> 2. Pump: The grout pump shall be a positive displacement type capable oi <br /> devefoping and maintaining sufficient pressure to completely fill all voida. <br /> PART 3 -EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 GENERAL <br /> A. Method of Constructing Piles: Each auper-placed concrete pile shall be fortned by the <br /> rotation of a continuous flight hollow shaR auger into the ground to the requfred depth. <br /> Concrete grout shall then be injected through the auger ahafl aa the auger is being <br /> withdrawn to exert upward presaure on the withdrewing earth-filled auger, as well as <br /> Iaterai pressure on the soil surrounding the grout fllled pile hole. Concrete shall be <br /> placed the same day that the hole fe drilled. Holes shall not remain open ovemight. <br /> April 27, 2001 02458- 4 <br /> � <br />
