r
DAVID L.NELSON AND ASSOCIATES,INC.
 Consulting Engineering Geology
February 1, 1985
Pro,ect No. G385
Page tMo
Al1 alevations and locations mentioned in this report refer to existing
grade, and to a topographic survey of the site performed by Darrell Ford &
• Associates, dated 1/24/85, given to us for our use on this proect.
 Location 8 Site Description
The investigated site is located at 1030 East Casino Road, in Everett,
 Washington.
Presently, the site is developed into an area of existing buildings, varying
i
in size from the existing church to smaller outbuildings. Vegetation con-
' sists of landscaping materials, lawn and some trees, with the maority of
' the area in lawn. The southwestern portion occurs within an area of trees.
Topographically, the area is generally flat l,ying, with a very gentle slope
 + taward the southeast.
  Soils Conditians
The subsurface soils stratigraphy can best be seen on the enclosed test
' pit logs.
w In geneTal , the site was found to be underlain at depth by grey, dense,
' poorly sorted s11ty sand with gravel , consldered to be glacial till. Thce
4i soils were encountered at depths ranging from 3' to greater than 4.5' below
grade. Overlying the glacial till is a 0.5' to 1.5' thick strata of brown
_ to grey-brown, medium dense poorly sorted gravelly sand. This material
appears to consist of residual glacial outwash soils. These soils are
generally very granular, although were found to be much less dense than the
underlying glacial till. Soils overlying the gravelly sands varied across
the site. Within some areas (TP-1 , TP-2, TP-3) the gravelly sands were
overlain by red-brown loose gravelly silty sand with roots and brown-black
intermixed organic ladden silty sand, considered artificial ffil. Other
areas were found to consist of surfictal soils previousl• described without
the artificial fill, although an organic topsoil layer was present. These
-- areas were determined to consist of surficial soils ranging in thickness from
2.0' to 3.0' across the site area. Since artificial fill soils were encoun-
tered within the area, some areas of thicker unsuitable surficial soils
` may be encountered.
w.
