Western red cedar will be incorporated into these <br /> y areas as appropriate. The edge surrounding the upper reaches <br /> H6 � � of the north end of the wetland will be planted with a native <br /> willow mix including Sitka willow and heart-leaf (rigid) <br /> willow. The lower edge will include a mix of willows <br /> including Sitka and piper ' s wiilow. Additional large <br /> streambank varieties of Pacific willow will be planted in the <br /> � buffer area to provide diversity and rapid growth. Tt�e outer <br /> edges of the s:.ope abutting Building 8 will be planted with a <br /> variety of flowering upland species that will provide spriny <br /> color and summer berries or fruita. These will include <br /> ,� American wild plum, wild cherry and chokecherry. This mix <br /> will be conti_nued along the east side of the property and in <br /> � the narrow separation between Casino Road and the wetlrnd <br /> � ' along the south side of the property. <br /> '�' « The peninsulas or raised areas in the center core of the <br /> '�1 wetland will be planted with a mix of red alder, black <br /> ' ' cottor�wood, and Pacific willow. This cumbination is intended <br /> � to provide a high canopy deciduous area for nesting birds <br /> f�' plus crevice-nesting habitat as tfie trees mature. <br /> M <br /> �� The low slope between elevation 562 and 564 will be <br /> �lanted with a mix of willow, red-osier dogwood, and ninebark. <br /> ��� This area will be at the edge of inundation during periods <br /> � when there is water .in the wetlands system. The remainder of <br /> '�' .. the area (i.e. , 560, 561 elevations) will be planted with the <br /> � native material from the northweatern wetland. <br /> �' The entire buffer area above elevation 561 will over- <br /> ��' seeded with a grass mix of redtop, meadow foxtail (native) , <br /> 1 ' �, and Oregon bentgrass. This will provide soil stabilization <br /> � and create a habitat for small rodents. Once the area is <br /> planted, slips of black cottonwood and willow will be plugged <br /> in between planted trees to insure an increased density, to <br /> provide a secondary tree age to compensate for trees that will <br /> .. die in the first 2 to 3 years after construction, and to <br /> provide a staggered aqe class in the woodlot area. <br /> 6 <br /> ti <br />
