Won -Door manufactures two (2) types of motor drive assemblies for Its automatic <br />closing systems. Specifiers should designate which motor assembly Is to be <br />supplied In section 2.08c of the specifications (page 2 of this section). <br />a.Type 1 Motor Assembly — Standardly mounted below the header at the back <br />of the storage pocket, Type 1 offers the following advantages over Type 2: <br />(1) Loss expensive <br />(2) Eliminates the requirement to provide a separate fire rated enclosure. <br />(Storage pocket provides the (1) hour enclosure required by U.L.) <br />(3) Eliminates the requirement of access panels, (Installation and ser- <br />vice access Is made through the front of the storage rocket.) <br />Type 1 assemblies are limited tooperating doorsof losethen 270squarefeet <br />In slAo and require an additional 3" of pocket depth for mounting space. <br />b.Type 2 Motor Assembly — Standardly mounted above the header at the <br />stack end, Type 2 offers the following advantages over Type 1: <br />(1) Requires no additional mounting space In the storage pocket. <br />(2) Operates larger doors. (Single parting doors up to 440 square feet <br />and bl-parting doors up to 500 square feet) <br />Specifiers should consider whether or not sufficient space Is available <br />above the header to mount the motor assembly and provide access for <br />Installation and service. Motor assemblies and control boxes must be <br />mounted within a one (1) hour fire rated enclosure In order to comply with <br />U.L. listings. <br />2. Fire doors larger then 500square feetwlllrequire anA.C.motor. Please consult <br />the factory for details. <br />3. Fire exit hardware Is optional equipment except: (1) when fire doors are used <br />for elevator lobby separation where Installation Is in accordance with NER-212 <br />or (2) when fire doors are used as a means of agrees. <br />4. Smoke detectors used to activate the automatic closing system maybe apart <br />of the overall building fire alarm system and must be equipped with a set of no - <br />voltage contacts.
