Operation: Closing systems shall consist of <br />an electronk; control box, key switch module, <br />motor drive assembly and leading edge ob- <br />struction detector. In case of fire, closing sys- <br />tem shall be activated by the building's fire/ <br />smoke detection equipment and automati- <br />cally close all FlreOuard doors. Motors shall <br />be operated by DC power supplied from a 12 <br />volt maintenance -free battery located In the <br />electronic control box. Batteries shall be con- <br />tinuously charged by the building's electrical <br />service and be automatically maintained at <br />capacity. Fire doors may be operated man- <br />ually In either the conventional or emer- <br />gency mode. <br />B. Electronic Control Box: Shall house the micro- <br />processor logic board, interconnect board, <br />12 volt maintenance -free battery, power <br />supply/charger, and motor control relays. <br />Location of the box shall be within 25 feet of <br />the motor drive assembly In a minimum one <br />(1) hour rated enclosure. The micro- <br />processor shall initiate a loud audible signal <br />should any of the following conditions <br />arise: <br />1. High or low AC voltage <br />2. High or low DC voltage <br />3. Drive train malfunction <br />4. Limit switch malfunction <br />5. Key switch malfunction <br />8. ROM or RAM checksum error <br />C. Motor Drive Assembly: Shall be (Type 1) or <br />(Type 21 and consist of a DC gear -motor, <br />limit switch, torque firm ing device, drive <br />Nu,l <br />sprocket and clutch. The motor shall drive <br />the fire door by means of a chain atteched to <br />the stabilizer bar trolley. Motor drive assembly <br />shall be located within a one (1) hour fire <br />rated enclosure. <br />D. Key Switch Module: Shall consist of a key <br />switch and high decibel alarm. <br />E. Leading Edge Obstruction Detector: Fire <br />doors shall bs equipped with an obstruction <br />sensitive leading edge such that each contact <br />with an obstruction shall cause the door to <br />open 2" - 8" and pause before attempting to <br />re -doss. Fire doors can be manually opened <br />at any time by pushing against the leading <br />edge. <br />IF. Fire Exit Hardware: Shall be located on both <br />aides of each fire door. In emergency mode, <br />a slight pressure on the hardware will cause <br />the door to open a minimum of 32 Inches, <br />pause for 3 seconds, then automatically <br />close. The hardware shall be field program- <br />mable to allow automatic opening distances <br />of up to the entire opening width. In the con- <br />ventional mode, the hardware Is used to <br />open the door and move It back Into the <br />storage pocket.) <br />(G. Elactro-magnetic lock: Motor drive assem- <br />blies shall be equipped with electro-magnet <br />locks that will provide a minimum of 300lbs <br />of statlo folding force.
