The area is fully sprinklered in accordance
with the 1988 edition of the UBC, Chapter 38.
The project will surround the existing toilet facilities, freight elevator, and stairways
in this area.
The space is to be designed for office area, a Group B-2 Occupancy.
The area Is to be used for offices and will have a ceiling height of 7'-10". The
perimeter walls of the office area are to attain an acoustical design rating of
STC 60.
The finishes, within the office area, will include carpet and vinyl floors, painted
gypsum board walls, demountable partitions, and suspended acoustic panel
ceiling [2' x 4' grids].
BECE was directed, by facilities, to use only the existing stairways for exiting the
mezzanine and that they had reviewed the exiting situation with the City of Everett.
The new mezzanine will require the relocation of various mechanical piping and
HVAC ductwork as well as electrical revisions. The new construction will require
the training room on the first floor directly below, be demolished and re -built after
the mezzanine construction above has progressed 'o a satisfactory degree to
allow the training room to be constructed.
The construction of this mezzanine will also require a platform for mechanical
equipment that will be built above the second floor with ducting and piping carried
down to service the now office area. Mechanical roof penetrations will be required
above this platform.
