Wateo-reducing admixtures shall be added at the mi�er separately from air- <br /> entraining admixtures in accordance wilh the m��u(acturcr's printcd, instntctions. <br /> PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> 3.1 SURFACE PREPARATION: <br /> A. Remove loose material from compacted subbaze surface immediately before placing <br /> concrete. <br /> 3.2 FORM CONSTRUCTION: � <br /> A. Set fomu to required grades and lines, rigidly braced and secured. Install sufficient <br /> quantity of forms to allow continuous progress of work and so that fortns can remain <br /> in place at Icast 24 hours after wncrete placement. <br /> B. Clean fortns after each use and coat with form release agent as often as required �o <br /> ensure separation from concrete without damage. <br /> 3.3 REINFORCEMENT: <br /> A Locate, place, and suppon rein(orcement as specifed in Division 3 sections unless <br /> otherwise indicated. <br /> 3.4 FIELD TEST SPECIMENS: <br /> A. Concrete for pottland cement concrete paving will be tested for consistency, air <br /> content, and atrength. Concrete for the test apecimens shall he fumished by the <br /> Contractor and will be taken by the Bngincer in the field. <br /> B, Elexutal test beams will be made by lhe Owner'a Inspectionand Testing Agency each <br /> day that the concrete is placed. Each day, or each ahift if more than one shift per day <br /> is run, test beams wiil be made in two groups; one group of beams wili be made <br /> during Ihe first half nf each day or ahift, and the other group will be made during the <br /> last portion of the day ot shift. <br /> C. Also at ttie start of paving operations and if the aggregate sourcc, aggregate <br /> characteristics, or mix design is changed, additional grovps of test beams may be <br /> requital until the Owner'a inspection Agency and Engincer sre satisfied that the <br /> concrcte miz being used complies with the stangeh requiremcnts of these <br /> specifications. <br /> D. Each group ahall be molded form the same batch of wncrete and shall consist of a <br /> sufficient number of samples to provide row flexural strength testa for each test age. <br /> Test ages will be three days, seven daya, 14 days and 28 days. The concrete shall be <br /> PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE PAVING 02520 - 4 <br />
