Running rail procurement is described in Section 34 11 13, Rail. <br /> B. Running rail for use in CWR treck shall be wetded in eccordance with Seclion 3411 16,Welding ot <br /> Rail. <br /> 1. Ends of CWR strings febricated with a single hole,torch cut or drilled, to facilRate handling <br /> shall have such hotes cul ofl with reil saw or abrasive cutting disc et least 3 inches lrom lhe <br /> hole prior to welding tn anolher rail. <br /> 2. Handiing and trensporting CWR shall wnform to tha requiremenls of AREMA Chapler 5. <br /> Bumping end striking lhe rail during handling or laying shall not be permitled. Use rollers lo <br /> tacilitate transporting and avoid damage to rail,irack appurtenances,and facilities. <br /> C Lceate field welds so that lhey do not ocwr at the following locations: <br /> 1. Within 12 feet o(another thermRe field weld in the opposRe rail. <br /> 2. Within 18 feet of a field wnld in the same rail <br /> D. Cutlinp,drilling end bevelinA of rail for installation of bolted joints: <br /> 1. Cut rails square and clean by means ot either rail sawa or abrasive cutling disks. <br /> 2 Do not cut rail for the inalallalion of a jaint within 10 feet o1 an electnc weld. <br /> 3. Accurately space holes for bolting of rail and drill with a reil drill in accordance with the <br /> requirements of AREMA Manual for Raihvey Engineering,Specificalions for Rail Drillings,Bar <br /> Punchmgs and Track Bolts <br /> a. Drill cylindrical holes ot specified diameter for the size bolt required lhrough and <br /> perpendicular to the web of the rail. <br /> b. Use a template as a drilling guide. In no case shall a joint bar be used 1or this <br /> purpose. <br /> 4. Remove rough edges from the bott holes <br /> 5.
