A Sketch
showing the tower focation was provided by Mr.Jim Collins of Bechtel,a copy of which is attached
as Figure 1. This study was perfortned in general accordance with the scope of work (Exhibit A)
contained in the Terracon ProJect Team contract with Bechtel dated September 24, 1996. The
purpose nf these services is to provide geotechnfcal engineering recommendations for design of
foundations and other earth comected phases of the project.
Propoaed Construction: As currently planned, construction on the sita will include a monopole
cellular transmission tower and ancillary support equipment. The proposed monopole tower will
be approximately 150 feet in height and will be supported on a drilled shaft foundadon system.
Maximum vertical loading at the base of the monopole and maximum overtuming moment are not
available at this time. We exped that further consultaUon may be necessary once the loads have
been detertnined.
Scope of Servicea: The scope of the services perfortned for this project included e subsurface
exploration program, laboratory testing and engineering analyses. One test boring was drilled on
the site at the location of the proposed monopole tower. Selected soil samples were tested for the
following engineering properties:
• Water content
• Dry Density
• Compression
• Expansion
• pH
• Resistivity
• Water soluble sulfate content
GEOTECMNICAL,ENVIROHMENTAL ANU MATERULS ENOINEENa OUALT'ENOINEENMO SINCE 1Yl6
