THE BOEING COMPANY
COORDINATION SHEET
From: Leonard Astemborski
M/S OF-76
266-3563
FAX 342-8167
To: Tim Tyler
Building Department
City of Everett
No.: 137
Job No.:
Date: Feb 22, 1993
Subject: Location of factory crane disconnects
It is hereby requested that a variance or interpretation clarification to National
Electric Code Art 610-31(1) be issued. The NEC article states that the crane
runway conductor disconnects be readily accessible and operable from the
ground or floor level. We consider the floor level for the purpose of the
disconnect locations as the catwalk level in the high bay portion of the building.
The crane operators and maintenance personnel are at this level and more likely
to respond to the disconnects in the event of a runaway crane.
There are also redundant safety switches located at the ground floor level
controlling other safety features of the crane.
