This
report presents ;:he results of our field exploration, selective
laboratory tests, and engineering analyses. The purpose and scope
of our study was outlined fn our proposal dated October 19, 1987.
Our field exploration encountered thick fills 1n the extreme
noithwest corner of the proposed building. The east building wall
is to be located adjacent to a near vertical to very steep slope
overlooking a borrow pit. Finish floor elevation of the warehouse
is to be eix hundred seventy-two (672) feet, and the office is to be
six hundred eiqhty-four (684) feet. Retaining structures will be
needed along the east side of the property. Wall design criteria
for the fill retaining east wall have been submitted in a letter
dated October 16, 1987, but we understand these will be revised
again during this project.
Depending on final aite grade, up to tventy (20) feet of fill will
be placed under the northeast and southwest corners of the proposed
structure. The footings will likely be placed partly in cut and
partly in fill . The footings should be designed to be rig`d across
the transition between the cut and fill to reduce settlement relatea
distortion. The building corners to be locatsd in the deep fills
should also be reinforced as rigid members. Depending on the final
building elevations, we believe the extreme northwest corner of the
proposed warehouse footing alignment should be overexcavated to a
depth af at least five feet and the excavated material replaced with
a compacted structural fill.
After construction, all cut and fill slopes should be protected
against eroeion damage. This can be accomplished by seed.ing with a
rapid-growth deep-routed vegetative mat, possibly in conjunction
with a geotechnical fabric.
This report has been prepared for specific application to this
project in a manner consistent with that level of care and skill
ordinarily exercisec! by other members of the profession currently
18051fi1nPleceNE Su,iab Bauevue Wesnngion9B00S Beiirari7066aJ]Bn Seatle7066a1tl<
p11E MSVeN Sene107 PO Bo. 117N Tarome Wesngmn9P99oq 7eroma70fiipTJ660B
