January 11, 2017 <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council members congratulated Eric Hicks on his appointment to the <br /> position of Everett Fire Chief. <br /> Council Member Moore congratulated Council Member Tuohy on her <br /> appointment to the position of City Council President. <br /> Council Member Roberts commented that this was a historic moment for <br /> the Council with female representation as President and Vice President for <br /> 2017. He thanked Council Member Murphy for his work and leadership as <br /> Council President. Council Member Roberts also spoke about various <br /> meetings with legislators in Olympia. Council Member Roberts provided a <br /> liaison report on the work of the Vision Committee. <br /> Council Member Murphy thanked Mayor Stephanson for his leadership <br /> during their visit to Olympia. He also thanked Fire Chief Gordon for his <br /> many years of service. Council Member Murphy reported on his <br /> attendance at the Vision Committee meeting and stated he appreciated <br /> the diversity of a group. <br /> Council Member Bader reported on his attendance at the second meeting <br /> of the Vision Committee. He stated the Vision Committee should be made <br /> aware of legal, economic and political constraints that the City operates <br /> under. Council Member Bader also provided a liaison report on his <br /> attendance at the Puget Sound Regional Council Growth Management <br /> Policy Board meeting last week. <br /> Council Member Franklin concurred with council members' comments <br /> regarding their trip to Olympia and thanked Bob Bolerjack and Hil Kaman, <br /> Administration, for their work. She also reported on her attendance at the <br /> Economic Alliance of Snohomish County legislators meeting last week. <br /> President Tuohy thanked her colleagues for their support and stated she <br /> is honored to work this year as Council President with the Mayor, Council, <br /> and City staff. She announced that the liaison assignments for 2017 are <br /> updated and proposed two additional assignments. President Tuohy <br /> assigned Council Member Moore to be a liaison to Everett's schools. She <br /> also proposed to divide up the City neighborhood associations into groups <br /> 9 <br />
