11. Senior Services of Snohomish County— Senior Peer Counceling Program <br /> The Senior Peer Counceling Program uses trained and supervised senior <br /> volunteers to provide supportive counceling to other seniors facing difficult life <br /> challenges. These challenges include loss of loved ones and friends, health <br /> problems, retirement, relocation, loss of mobility, and other changes associated <br /> with aging. These issues often lead to depression, isolation and anxiety. <br /> Recommended 2005 appropriated funds $3,500.00 <br /> 12. Deaconess Children's Services <br /> IMPACT: Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention <br /> IMPACT is an intensive child abuse prevention program which offers outpatient <br /> services to high risk parents, infants, and toddlers in hopes of breaking the <br /> cycles of abuse and neglect that are passed on down from one generation to <br /> another. Services provided include structured parenting education and support <br /> groups, outreach, case management and a therapeutic nursery. <br /> Recommended 2005 appropriated funds $7,500.00 <br /> 13. Snohomish County Center for Battered Women <br /> The Center for Battered Women provides counseling and shelter for victims of <br /> domestic violence. In September of 1981 , the Center, then known as Stop <br /> Abuse, opened a fifteen person capacity shelter for victims and their children. <br /> City of Everett and Snohomish County CDBG funds funded this shelter. <br /> Recommended 2005 appropriated funds $20,000.00 <br /> 14. Community Health Center of Snohomish County <br /> The Community Health Center is a non-profit clinic providing on-site medical and <br /> dental care to low income people who do not have the health insurance or other <br /> resources to pay for health care through private physicians. <br /> Recommended 2005 appropriated funds $19,400.00 <br /> 15. Housing Hope — College of Hope <br /> CDBG funds will be used for the provision of life skills and employment training <br /> for homeless and at-risk households. The College of Hope program has been <br /> developed through a four-agency partnership designed to help homeless <br /> families secure compensation in key areas essential to self-sufficiency. <br /> Recommended 2005 appropriated funds $11,782.37 <br />
