DESIGN RECOMA4ENDATIONS
  ` i.:
o N
   ` OINTRODUCTTON
y Our exploration indicates that, from a geotechnical standuoint, the parcel is suitable for tf:•
y — proposed developmen! provided the recommendations contained herein are propedy followed.
, o y Our explorations ;ndicate that the existing fill in the building area is generally m a dense
   - condition znd did not contain any unsuitable soil or debris within the area of our explora[ion
y o y pits. Therefore, lhe upper, dense fill soil may be used ro provide building support and spread
footing foun daUons are feasble. It is antici pated that some swctural fill will be necessary to
achieve the desired elevation for the building. Footings may either be founded or. approved
structural fill placed over the existing fill, or directly on the existing fll. The medium dense to
dense, upper fill soil will also provide swtable suppori for the proposed pazking and drive-thru
azeas. Some cuts and fills and recompaction may be necessary !n lhese areas also.
' 6.0 STTE PREPARATI N
r .,
Any buried utilities within the building areas, including the previously notedi 11 to 14 foot deep
!' santary sewer pipe and abandoned water main, shoul be removed and/or relocated. The
resulting depressions should be backfilled with a granular material such as th onsite sand
encounterecl in EP-4 near the higher, northeast portion of the parcel, or imported clean pit run
' '. gravel. The baokfill should be compacted to 95 percent of ehe Modified Proctor Mzximum
Densiry (ASTM:D 1557). An altemative to removmg the existing abandoned sanitary sewer
and water lines would be to properly abandon them in place by pumpmg them full of grout. If
this procedure is used, it should be observed by Assocated Farih Scences, Inc. to ven,y that
1 . ( the line(s) aze completely filled with grouL Site preparation should also iiclude stripping the
minor ve;etation and removing deleterious material from the central portion of the site. After
stripping has been completed, parking and :,uilding areas may be graded to the required
, elevation (following the recommendations in the Swctural Fill secuon of this repori).
1'  ;
I As noted earlier, a previous wet area was observed in the eastern portion of the proposed
building localion. If grading takes place during the wetter seasons, additional dramage
measures may be reqcired to prevent water from ponding in the building area. If the subecade
buomes wet or is disturbed during site preparation, the medium dense to dense fill soils may
be softened. All disturbed or softened sols must be removed prior to placing the fill,
:- pavement or slab subgmde materials or footing concrete.
.
-1 , 7 n STRi1C'T[1RAL FILL
i
i • We anticipate lh finished site grade to be approximately 1 toot above the existiog grade of
I , Evergreen Way. In order to accomplish this, it appears that up to 5 fect of fill may be
I necessary vithin thc lowest azea of the site. All rcierences to swcWral fill in this reporl refer
w subgrade preparation, fill type, placement and compaction of materials as discussed in this
sectior,. If a percentage o(compacuon is specified under another section of this report, the
value given in that section should be usc.
 5
r'
L_:
-
_ s
