PROJEC'I' :1D SITE CONDiTIONS
 1.0 INTRODJCTION
This report present; die results of our subsurface exploration, geologic hazard, and pre[iminary
t geotechnical engineering study for the proposed new Housing Hupe Phase Q project to be
conswcted on the property located immedia[ely west of the day care faciliry at 5910 Evergreea
1'ay in Everett. Washington (Figure 1). The approximate locations of the explorations
complecei for this study are presented on the Site and Exploration Plan, Figure 2.
I1.1 Purpose and Scope •
The purpose of this study was to provide subsurface data to be utilized in the preliminary
Idesign and development of the above-mentioned project. Our study includcd re..ng
, available literature, excavating exploration pits, and performing geologic stvdies to asse:.s :he
rype, thickness, distribution, and p6ysical properties of the subsurface soils and shallow
I ground warer conditios. Geotechnical engineering studies were also conducted te determine
the npe of sui[able foundation, allowable bearing pressures, anticipated settlements, retaining
waU rypes and lateral pressures, floor support recommendations, and drainage considerations.
This report summarizes our cunent fieldwork and offers development recommendations based
on our present understanding of the project. This report is preliminary considering that the
I building locations and finished floor elevations have not been finalized at the time of this
report. In addition, we unders[and tha[ on-site infiltration of storm water is cunently a desired
design option. Therefore, additional exploration may bc required within the specific area(s)
Itargeted for infiltration once site development plans have been solidified.
1.2 Authorization '
t Written authorization to proceed with this study was granted by hir. Ron Vlallace of Housing
Hope on January 2, 2002. Our study was accomplished in general accordance with our
I proposal dated November 29, 2001. This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of
Housing Hope and ttieir agents, for specific application to this project. Within the limitations
of scope, schedule, and budget, our services have been performed in accordance with generally
Iaccepted geotechnical engineering and engineering geology practices in effect in this area at the
time our repon was prepared. No other warranty, express or implied, is made.
I2.0 PROJECT AND SITE DESCRIPTION
( This report was completed with an understanding of the proposed project. based on a
topographic survey provided by Western Surveyors, Ir.c, dated January 22, 2002 and a
IFebruary Il, 200: ASSOCU7ED EfR7NSClENCE$ /NC.
scrd r.caro:r.n,:ui+vKewr•u:K Page 1
' %30
