' Subsur,ract Ezp7orarior., Geologic Nard, md
Nvu.ring 'iopr Phate!! Prcliminary Gmtechnica!Enginrtring Repon
E}trttt. Rathingtun Projccr and Sire Grndiriou

t
' prrliminary site plan by The pykeman Architects. The project site is a vacant lot located
batwr.en an existing day care f«ciliry wiih sveet address 5910 Evergreen VVay and tesidenual ?
d•ellings (owned by Housing Hopa) with s4eet addresses 5817, 5823, and 5829 Flemming
( Svicet in E•ere[t, 1i'ahington. 71.e e.isung day care building and resiciential dwellings will
remain. The Housing Hopc: drve!upmer_t offices ue located north of the site and a strip mall
and residential dwellings are locateci sosth of the property. Pidgeon Creek is located north of a
the property and separates the day care lot from the Housing Hope development offices 4
P;,perty. A required 50-foot vatercourse buffer has been established along the southeast flank ,
I of Pidgeon Creek. As currendy planned, the proposed Phase II development should not i
encroach on this buffer. ;
'Ie property is vegetted primarily with blackberry and other small shrubs, and scattered
igroups oC large cedar and maple trees. Slopes range from nearly flat in the northeast corne of
[he lot to approximately 50 percent near die southwest comer of the property. Overall vertical
relief across the site is on the order of 20 feet with higher elevations near the south properry
line and che lowest elevations along the north property line.
i 1Ye understand thac the proposed project would ir,clude construction of three neN residential
buildings withiu tLe vacat, eastern ponion of the lot. Building locations, finished floor
elevations, and construccion de[ails ha'e not been finalized at this time. However, we
Ianeicipace lieht to moderate foundation loads commensurate with wood or me[al-frame
consuution. Current plans also indude infiltration of storm water, if possible.
I3.0 SUI3SCRF:ICE E\PLOR.\TION
I lssociated Earth Sciences, Inc. (AESI) performed a subsurface exploration of the site on
]anuary 25, 2002. Our field smdy included txcavating seven exploration pi[s to gain
1 subsurface information about the si[e. The various rypes of soils, as well as the depths where
, characteristics of the soils changed, are indicated on the exploration logs presented in the
Appendix. The depths indicated on [he logs whe;e condi[ioas chaued represent gradational
' variations between soil types in the field. The loc.ations of our field exploratfons were
determined by approximate measurement from che known site features presenred on the
aforementioned topograp6ic survey prepazed by Western Surveyors, Inc. The purpose of the
I exploracion program was to establish general site, soil, aid ground water conditioas.
Additional explorations may be necessary within the specific azeas targeted for infiltration once
I. site development details and definite building locations and elevations have been established.
The cor.clusios and recommendations presented in this report are based, in part, on the
cxploration pits completed for this study. The number, locations, and depths of the
explorations were completed within site constraints. Because of the nature of exploratory work
below ground, exuapolation of subsurface conditions between field explorations is necessary.
 February !l, 2002 AJSOClATFJ F.4R1N SC(ENCE$ /NC.
scrr:KEov:•,rn,i:mi;.vKn wr-w:r.
Page 2
f 73D
