. .

MEMORANDUM r
Y
o
TO: Kirk Brooks
FROM: Jane Zimmerman 1 S IG
. lo
DATE. October 9, 1996
SUBJECT: Pre-Application Meeting, 5929 Evergreen Way
My commenu on the subject project ar;,:
On-site detentin of stormwater runoff is required per City standards.
Treatment of stormwater runoff from paved areas must occur, per City standards, prior to
discharge of the stormwater from the site or to a stream or wetland. Stormwater
detention/retention, quality protection, and treatment requirements for this project shall
be those requirements in effect at the time of application for Public Works permits.
Stormwater treatment is currently required when 10,000 square feet of pavement is
created by a project and three options for stormwater treatment aze presented in the
current City standazds. The least preferred option is allowed only if the first two options
are infeasible in the opinion of the Public Works DeparUnent. The options for
stormwater treahnent aze, in order of preference:
1) an infiltration basin designed and constructed acwrding to City standards, if
suitable soils exist on the site.
2) a wetpond designed and constructed to City standards.
3) a baffle-rype oil/water separator followed by a vegetated swale, both designed and
constructed according to City standazds.

Due to the developed nature of this site, an infiltration basin will probably not be feasible
due to past compaction of soils. Therefore, a wetpond designed and constructed in
accordance with City standards will be required if the amount of new pavement is 10,000
square feet or more.
g:ldau\janelwordpa5929ew
