Evergreen Way Dairy Queen, City of Everett <br />LSA No. 3146 <br />GREASE INTERCEPTOR SIZING <br />------------------------- <br />------------------------- <br />Using the method from Appendix H of the 1991 Uniform Plumbing Code: • <br />Notes: <br />1. Toilets, urinals and other similar fixtures shall not waste <br />through the interceptor <br />2. Interceptors shall have a minimum of two compartments <br />3. one manhole shall be provided for every 10 feet of <br />interceptor length. Manhole covers shall be qas-tight in <br />construction and have a minimum opening of 20 in��hes. Manhole covers I <br />shall be designed for H-20 loading if located in��raffic areas. � <br />4. Each chamber of the grease interceptor shall be vented to the outside. <br />Venting shall be at least 2-inch cast iron at a 2o-min slope up from <br />the tank. Vent ope:nings in the tanks could be loc�ted anywhere above <br />the standpipe ove•rflow elevation or in the manhole riser. <br />Size on the basis of: <br />number of ineals waste flow retention storage interceptor <br />per peak hour x rate a time x factor = size <br />Peak meals. The store will have a design peak capacity of one customer <br />per Tinute. Of these, 40 percent buy Dairy Queen products only which are <br />assumed to riot generate grease, the remainder will buy meals. Assume that <br />each "meal" customer buys two meals: <br />60 x .6 x 2 = %2 <br />Waste flow rate_ <br />for single service kitchen = 2 gallon flow <br />Retention time. <br />for single service kitch = 1.5 hours <br />Storage factor. <br />for single service kitch = 1.5 <br />Total liquid capacity = 72 x 2 x 1.5 x1.5 = 324 gallor.s <br />Use nominal 600 gallon tank--Utility Vault Co.
