The project involved is the new agency facility fur Haight - Anderson, Inc. (Mazda automobiles) at 7202 Cvergreen Way for which we provided architectural service. Asamember of the planning commission I am particularly aware of the very un- satisfactory condition that has developed on Evergreen Way and in the course of preparing the drawings for the project made a special effort to comply with the wishes and desires of personnel in the City Engineering and Community Develop- ment Departments relative to improvements on public property. After spending considerable time determining precisely the configuration required, the contract documents delineated a solution involving an "extruded concrete curb" outlining the driveways and running along the Evergreen Way right-of-way line in front of the property. (The total length of curb involved is 195'). At no time during our discussion with City personnel was the "type" of extruded concrete curb required to meet City standards mentioned, consequently, the con- tract drawings submitted to the City for review prior to bidding did not show or specify any particular "type". The documents returned to us with required con- rections did not carry any reference to the type required nor did the set of docu- ments released to the Contr�ctor as officially approved for construction carry any such reference. In all fairness however, it must be noted that the "driveway permit" issued by the Engineering Department to the Contractor did state that a type "C" curb was required. P. O.
