Respondents were also asked to evaluate the imoact on residential <br />property wiChin one block of a number of alternate uses for the <br />hypothetical site described in the survey. <br />Of the alternate uses proposed, a clear*majority felt that a medi- <br />cal office or a branch library would increase the value of sur- <br />rounding residential property. A storefront church., welfare of- <br />fice, tavern, record store, ice cream parlor or video -game parlor <br />were generally felt to neither improve nor decrease residential <br />property values significantly.
