This wall
is required per Uniform Building Code (1997) requirements for a Type V building with two
f7oors greater than a total of 16,000 square feet. Here we have about 26,000 square feet for
the total building. Therefore, Section 504.6.2 requires a two-hour fire-resistive area
separation wall be maintained from the foundation to the roof deck that divides the building
into two sections with at least one section equal to or less than 16,000 square feet. Previous
plans indicate the location of this existing wafl to be running east-west from the south lobby
wall direcdy east on a straight line. 4ny penetrations made into this ASW must have 90-
minute fire-resistive frames and doors on closers or magnetic hold open devices. This wall
will extend to the roof deck and fan out five feet on either side for fire protection.
At the meeting with Connell Design Group, we tried ro facilitate a change in this wall
location. However, the siting of the building on the property, the building type (V), and the
existing location of the ASW on the first level, precluded any possible compromise of the
location of this ASW. In this case, there is no way to mitigate the location of the ASW.
As soon as your modified plans are ready for resubmittal, your application will be given
priority and the plan revie•N will commence.
Sincereiy,
.
.i r
Tony I.ee
Associate Engineer
TLjudyupnPr.]
CITY OF EVERETT• 3200 Cedar Street • Eveett.
