3. At other locations within the City, the storage of old tires contributes significant quantities of small
rubber pieces to the storm drainage system. Rubber contains significant concentrations of heavy
metals. Its dispersal through the sue's drainage system may require future disposal of accumulated
sediments as hazardous waste. Therefore, it is highly recommended that any old tires stored on the
site be stored under cover in an area that is hydrologically isolated from the storm drainage system.
Or that runoff from the tire storage area be routed through a lazge catch basin with 4 feet of catch
to capture rubber before it enters the main drainae system.
