Section 1106.8.4 <br />5. Edge protection should be provided per Section 1106.8.7 for the ramp by one of the <br />fotiowing methods: <br />a) Walls ard Curbs. When used, walls or curbs should not be less than 2 inches in <br />height above the surface of the ramp. <br />b) Railings. When used, railings should comply with Section 1106.8.5 and also <br />have one of the fcllowing features: <br />i) An intermediate rail mounted 17 to 19 inches above the ramp or landing <br />surface, or <br />iil A guardrail complying with Section 509. <br />6. Handrails should be provided on each side of the ramp and conform to Section <br />1003.3.3.6: <br />a) At least one handrail should extend a minimum of 12" past bottom uf the raa�p <br />and 12" past the top of the ramp. <br />b) The top of the handrail and extension should be shown no higher than 34 -3Q <br />inches above the ramp surface. <br />7. It should be verified that the ramp is a minimum of 44 inches wide. Section <br />1106.83 <br />8. Solid risers should be provided for the stairs.
