Construction is Type II with steel studs. <br />3. Ques: Are windows presently installed in these rooms? <br />Ans: Existing windows are approximately one foot in <br />height and at ceiling level. Most people could not <br />use these as an avenue of escape. <br />4. Ques: Are fire -rated doors installed between sleeping <br />areas and apparatus area? <br />Ans: Yes, but not certain whether 20 minute or one hour. <br />S. Ques: I£ doors were blocked is there any way people <br />could escape? <br />Ans: No. <br />Ques: Is building sprinkled? <br />Ans: No. <br />Ques: Is someone always awake? <br />Ans: No. <br />Ques: Are smoke detectors installed? <br />Ans: Yes. <br />It was suggested that this seems to be a matter to be decided by <br />the Fire Chief and not the Board of Appeals. At this point <br />Section 1.103.(b) of the Uniform Fire Code was cited: <br />The provisions of this code shall apply to existing conditions <br />as well as to conditions arising after the adoption thereof, <br />except that conditions legally in existence at the adoption <br />of this code and not in strict compli.ance therewith shall be <br />permitted to continue only if, in the oinio_n_oe <br />the chief, <br />they do not constitute a distinct azar tli��roperty. <br />it was generally agreed that this issue be resolved at the discretion <br />of the Fire Chief. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m. <br />- 4 - <br />J <br />I <br />�a <br />
