I
2. The property is to be cleaned up and the building sealed
and barricaded by the close of City business on December 19,
1933.
3. A letter is to be submitted to the City by December 19,
1983 by an insurance company verifying that liability
insurance has been secured holding the City harmless
from any liability relative to this property.
4. A building permit application must be submitted for
approval by January 12, 1984.
S. Construction must commence within one week after issuance
of a building permit.
6. If construction has not commenced by April 1, 1984,
demolition and clean up to the satisfaction of the City
of Everett must be commenced immediately and be completed
by May 1, 1984.
Item No. 2 - Fire Chief's a eat of Fire Marshal's Order to prov
a secon exit rom sleeping areas at Fire Stations
Fire Chief Doug McNall provided some background information on the
situation. The two fire stations in question were constructed in
1970 under the requirements of the 1967 Uniform Building Code. He
is asking for a determination on whether or not facilities of this
type will have to provide second exits from sleeping rooms in the
future. He made the following points against such a requirement:
1. The fire stations met existing code when built.
2. When repairs were made after a fire in 1978, egress
windows were not required.
3. Nothing on the apparatus room floor presents a danger
to life, limb or property.
4. The people using the building are professional fire-
fighters who are accustomed to dealing with emergency
situations.
S. The installation of windows will cost the taxpayers
approximately $1,500.00 per building.
6. It has not been clearly determined that the current
code requires a second means of egress.
- 3 -
1
J
I
