WASRINGTON <br />In April 1974, abatement procedures were initiated against this <br />house. The ownership has changed and the new owners have been <br />dealt with since August of 1979. <br />As you will note, there has been no title search performed on <br />this property and a "Notice of Noncompliance" has not been <br />filed with the County Auditor. <br />A Demolition Permit (#6916) was issued for this structure on <br />January 17, 1980. The structure remains standing in the same <br />deteriorated and hazardous condition today. <br />This Department has not received cooperation from the owner even <br />after having meetings with him and obtaining his assurance that <br />the situation would be abated. <br />In July, I made a request to Ken Callahan that we proceed with <br />abatement. He stated that the Demolition Permit prevented the <br />City from taking action until January, 1981, when the permit <br />expired. He has since indicated that we should take further <br />action. <br />According to Ordinance No. 531-78, Sec. 302 (this Ordinanc <br />adopted the 1976 Building Code), Building Permits are <br />tgoodarigerous <br />one year. Under the circumstances, and according <br />Building Code, I feel that we can proceed.
