EVERETT WASHINGTON Public Yorks inspecticn recently placed a "Notice to Step Work" at 3424 Federal Avenue for working in the Public Rights -of -Way without a permit. The owner had removed a street tree and sod locateo between the curb and sidewalk along their street frontage with the intent of creating adoitional parking. Site inspection of the area will show the following: Federal is a narrow roadway with no "on -street" parking. Minimal curb height as a result of numerous overlays. East side of 3400 block of Federal has been converted to parking on oricinal landscape strip between the curb• and sidewalk. The landscape strip on the west side of Federal between the curb and sidewalk is fairly well established with orass and trees with the exception of one home. Alley access to the homes on the east side of Federal is marginal, while alley access is fairly good to those homes on the west side. I have receivec two (2) calls recuestino that the City prohibit parking on the landscape/green belt area within this block. One of the statements came from the owner whose property received the Notice to Stop Work; i.e., "if I can't have it, no one should have it." Discussion of the issue may be appropriate with T.A.C.
