I
c
GEOLOGICAL
SERVICES
Consulting Geolo6sts
August 1, 2008
File No. 087-4
Pete and Penny Peters
4214 Federal Avenue
Everett, Washington 98203
Reference: Geological Assessment
4214 Federal Avenue
Everett, Washington 98203
Dear Mr. and Ms. Peters,
Cdrv---Uo-7
At your request I have completed an assessment of geologic hazards in the area of your
residential property, as referenced above. The following letter summarizes my findings and
presents opinions regarding the potential impact, if any, of local geologic conditions on your
property and planned improvements. I understand that you will be applying for a building permit
for remodeling work to be done at your residence. I further understand that Everett City
Planning and Community Development (PCD) staff have related that a geological assessment
will be required as a condition of issuing a building permit for your planned construction. My
work has been oriented at addressing City of Everett requirements regarding geologic hazards
on and adjacent to your property.
The remodeling work is understood to include; 1) improvements to interior spaces in the
existing house structure, 2) removal of the garage area framing on the west side of the house,
and construction of additional living space on the existing garage foundation and floor stab, and
3) construction of a new 9' X 10' "mud room" addition on the south side of the house. The
addition is to be a single story, wood framed structure, which will be located in the existing
lawn/porch area adjacent to the south side of the house. The addition will include a basement
level which will lie at the elevation of the existing house basement.
The scope of work performed for this study includes; 1) a site reconnaissance and
characterization of the slope which lies adjacent to the Peters property, 2) research of geologic
and soils mapping literature in my files, 3) review of City of Everett Critical Areas mapping, 4)
limited subsurface explorations, 5) geologic evaluations, and 6) the preparation of this report.
My investigations were conducted during my site visit on the afternoon of July 28, 2008. Mr.
and Ms. Peters were present at the time of my visit to show the area of concern and to relate
the known development history on this property.
613 — 222ND STREET SOUTHWEST
80THELL, WASHINGTON 98021 425/481.5183
0/0
