rrM
PUBLiC fl/OrXS
891D93
HOUSING CODE INSPECTION REPORT
FROM: MARIAN DENT, CITY OF EVERETT, HOUSING INSPECTOR
DATE: SEPTEMBER 28, 1994
SUBJ: 2209 FULTON AVE, EVERETT, WA
This buiiding is a duplex and one of the tenants called stating that there were lazge
holes in the roof of the building and the owner will not make repars.
An inspection was conducted and it was noted that the tenants had been told by the
owner that they could re-roof the building. Once they began to remove the old roofing
material they saw large areas of rot within the structural components and realized the
job was bigger than they could handle. They requested the owner to get a contractor to
do the job but the owner was dragging his feet m the matter.
The conditions as they exist at this point with dry weather are not considered
dangerous. However, if there is rain, as s predicted over the next several days, it
would cause serious damage to the buildings interior components, and possibly cause
damage to personal belongings of the tenants.
I call the owner, Mrs. Natividad, and explained the situation to Ier. I stated that a
State Licensed Contractor was reqnired to perform the job, bulding permits were
required for the work, inspections were required on the work, and I proceeded to give
her 72 hours to begin to perform the work.
Mrs. Natividad asked what would I do if 72 hours passed and the work had not started.
I advised her that I would perform formal abatement, by posting P,e building "Illegal to
Occupy" and giving the tenants 72 hours to vacate the premises.
These wnditions may be considered hazardous and/or dangerous to the health safety
and welfare of the occupants pursuant to the requirements of Uniform Housing Code,
and the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings as adopted by the
City of Evere[t.

CITY OF EVERETT•3200 Cedar S;reet • Everett, YVA 98201 • (206) 259-8800 • Fax (206) 259-8856
