,-.
x
MEMORANDUM
FROM: MARIAN DEIVT, HOUSING INSPECTOR
DATE: OCTOBER 20, 1994
SUBJ: 2209 PULTON STREET "A" AND "3"
Numerous events have taken place over the last few weeks regarding this building. I
am submitdng the following chronological history to help explain some of the events
which have taken place:
Sept. 27, 1994 The first indication of a problem was a complaint received from
the tenants of both units indicating that the roof of the building
was rotted and about to cave in.
Sept. 28, 1994 I performed an inspection of the units and sabmitted a report
which is on file. During this inspec6on, the tenants informed me
that the owner of the property told them they could recover the
roof. Some form of payment had been worked out on the
situation. Upon removing the old roofing material, the tenants
noted that the framing of the roof was rotted. At that time, they
advised the owner that they could not do the work because the
framing was in bad shape and they could not rebuild the roof
framing which was rotted..
3ept. 29, 1994 A letter was sent to the owner of the property along with a copy
of the inspection repot.
Sept. 30, 1994 The owner responded to the letter and hired someone to perform
repairs ro the roof. The contractor obtained building permit
M45727, dated 9-30.94 for repair of "framing only of pitched
roof'.
Oct. 7, 1994 The contractor came in the otfice and requested to void the repair
permit he obtained on Sept. 30th. Approval to void the permit
was given and I reyuested that the contractor sign the voided
permit. According to the Contractor, the owner did not have
enough money to buy tle materials and pay him for the work.
I inspected the building again as this day was a Friday and I
wanted to make sure the tenants were not being exposed to the
elements as a result of this contractor removing all the roofing
