Tcsc pipelines and connccdon piping in scctiuns betuecn temporary caps or
valves by admitting water to thc line gradually to full tcst pressure. Testing
against doscd valves will be permitted pzovided pressure differcnrial across
valvc does not excecd zated wocking pzessure of valve.
I. Hydrostatically test water mains and appurtenances 6 inch diametec and
largcc ac 200 psi. Apply test pressure at low end of secrion of watec main
being tested. Vent air in pipe prior co tesc
, Tesc by pressurizing main to zequiced ptessure, smp pump for I S minucs,
and then pressurize min ro test prassuce again. Observe secrion being rested
to detect any visible Ieakage. Use clean container foc holding watec for
pcessurizing main being cested. Sterilize makeup wacec by adding chlorine to
concenuation of 50 mg/1. Accurately detecmine water quantity required to
restoce pressure b}'pumping thcough positive displacement water metec with
a sweep unit hand:egistering l gallon per revolution. Use metcr approved
by Ciry of Evecett. Test acceptability will be detecmined as Eollows: Comply
with Ciry of Everett Standazds. Thcre shall not be an appreciable or abrupt
loss in pressure during 15-minuu test period.
K. Limit sections to be tesced normally to 1,600 feet. Engineer may zequize the
first section on pipe, not less than 1,000 feet in]ength,be tested in ocda to
qualify ccew and matecial. Do not continue pipe laying more than an
additional 1,000 feet until 6cst section has been tested successfully.
L. Perform hydiostatic tests on every complate secrion of water main between
valves,or as directed by Engineer. Lach valve side shall withstand same test
pressuce as pipe, wich no acave pcessuce in pipe secrion beyon?closed
valves. Make tests with h}'drant auxiliarp gate valves open and pressure
against hpdrant valve. Ahccesc is completed, each gacc vahe will be
acceptable if there is no immediate loss oE pessure on gage when pressure is
applicd to valve being checked. Verify pressure differendal across vatve docs
❑oexceed raced test pressuce of valve.
M. VUhen hydrants are included with section of main pipe to be tested, condur
tesdng in two sepuate tesu as follows:
7. Test No. l —\Water main gate•alves and hydrant auciliary gz:e valves
closed, with hydcant operating stem vahes and hose ports wide open.
2. Tcst No. 2—\Vatec main gate valves and hydrant operaung stem
valves righdy dosed but hydrant auxiliary gate valves and hose pores
uide opcn.
o2siais C(N'fRACT RECORD
DOCUMENT
