The inside lower edges of the Type I and II commercial hoods should be <br /> dimen�ioned on the drawings to extend minimum 6 inches beyond the edge of the <br /> top horizontal surface of .he appliance on all open sides, unless the hood is closed <br /> to the appliance side by a noncombustible wall or panel meeting the requirements <br /> of the exception to IMC section 507.9, specifically on the hood returns adjacent to <br /> wall construction: <br /> a. The extent of the smooth, cleanable, nonabsorbent and noncombustible <br /> material should be shown on the drawings and noted to extend 18 inches in <br /> all directions from the hood to the full height of the hood canopy, per the <br /> exception to IMC section 507.9. <br /> 7. Please clarify if the centrifugal blower (submitted as a cut sheet only) is the <br /> termina� exhaust fan. The exhaust fan(s) should be shown on the drawings to <br /> have an approved drain outlet at the lowest point of the housing to permit <br /> drainage of grease to an approved grease reservoir, per IMC section 506.5.2. This <br /> detail should be referenced on the sections on sheets M5 and M6. <br /> a. Please clarify on the drawings in a detail lhe exhaust fan(s) hinges and <br /> flexible weatherproof eiectrical cable (or other method of access) to permit <br /> inspection and cleaning, per IMC 506.5.3. This detail should be referenced <br /> on the sections on sheets M5 and M6. <br /> b. Please clarify if the vertical shaR with a bird-screen at the upper roof <br /> provides adequate weather protection for the inline grease duct fan on the <br /> lower roof, per manufacturer's instructions. <br /> 8. Where cleanout openings are located in ducts within a fire-resistance rated <br /> enclosure, one-hour fire-resistant access openings and signage ("ACCESS PANEL. <br /> DO NOT OBSTRUCT.") should be shown on the drawings, per IMC sections 506.3.8 <br /> and 506.3.11, in all of the required locations, to include: <br /> c. Grease duct horizontal cleanouts should be show�n on the drawings spaced <br /> not more than 20 feet apart, per IMC section 506.3.9.1. <br /> d. Where the grease ducts pass vertically through floors, cleanouts should be <br /> shown on the drawings per IMC section 506.3.9.2. <br /> e. A cleanout should be shown on the drawings for both the inlet side and <br /> outlet side of an in-line fan within 3 feet of the fan duct connection, per IMC <br /> section 506.3.8.2. <br /> 9. The following should be noted on the drawings: <br /> a. Duct materials and thicknesses, per IMC section 506.3.1. <br /> b. Grease duct leakage test coordinated with the schedule of the city inspector <br /> on-site such that the installation can be reviewed with the light test prior to , <br /> us� or concealment, per IMC 506.3.2.5. <br /> c. Greasc duct support materials and attachments, per If1C section 506.3.3. <br />
