Permit Counter
15219 - 14"' Drive Southeast
Mill Creek, Washington 98012
Subject: Keystone Wall Recommendations
Carlson Residence
Edgemoor Lane near pover Street
Everett, Washington
Dear Mr. Konsmo:
As requested, we are pleased to present this letter providing recommendations for the
planned Keystone wail. In preparing this letter, we met with you at the subject site
to observe the general site conditions and calculated geogrid lengths and verticai
spacings for the wall. This letter presents the results of our observations and
analyses.
We understand it is planned to construct a Keystone wall along the west side of the
driveway at the subject site. Most of the wall will be less than four feet in height;
however, in an area planned to provide an automobile turn-around, the wall will be
eight to ten feet high. The wall will be situated near the top of a relatively steep
slope. The slope is about thirty (30) feet high and has a gradient on the order of 30
to 40 percent.
In the area of the turn-around, the slope has been covered with spoils from the house
foundation excavation. This fill was cast over the slope and is susceptible to sliding.
This fill should be removed as soon as possible and in no case should be left above
or below the proposed Keystone wall ocation.
In our opinion, the Keystone wall can be constructed generally as planned. Where the
wall height will exceed four feet, the wall will need to be reinforced with a geogrid.
For walls up to eight feet high Tensar UX1400, or approved equivalent, should be
used. For walls greater than eight feet in height, Tensar UX1500, or approved
equivalent, should be used. The geogrid spacing and length should be in accordance
with the following table:
1805•136ih Place N.E.,Suite 201,Bellewe,Washington 98W5
Betlevu2(206)643-3780 Seaitle(206)464•1584 FAX(206)74•608-60 Tacoma(206)272-6608
