� ' ( � � <br /> An exception to Section 5053 states that twu buildings on the same property may be <br /> considered as one if they are of the same type of construction, and meet allowable az�a. � <br /> This would change the type of construction of the proposed carport to Type III 1-HR. <br /> I) The requirements of Type III 1-HR construction are generally as follows: <br /> a) Noncombustible exterior walls (or structural frame) of minimum two-hour <br /> conswction. This could be handled in two different ways: <br /> i) Convert the structural frame to a noncombustible material, and wrap the steel <br /> columns and beams supporting the roof with a listed two-hour fire-resistive <br /> assembly, or <br /> ii) Use fire-retardant treated wood posts and beams, also with the above <br /> mentioned two-hour fire-resistive wrap. <br /> b) A wood-framed roof is allowable in either case. <br /> As an alternate to the above requirements, we will accept a totally non-combustible <br /> structure (to include the roo� with no additional fi�e-resistive construction required. <br /> 2) An occupancy sepazation must also be completed between the old building and the <br /> new carport. To satisfy this requirement,the following requirements must be met: <br /> a) The existing door to the elevator room must be verified to be a listed one-hour <br /> fire-resistive assembly. <br /> b) All openings in the wall in line with the new canopy and below must be filled in <br /> or fire-sealed. <br /> 3) The structural drawings of the original submittal have not been reviewed due to <br /> nonstructural changes required. <br /> Please prepare a response letter showing where each item in this correction letter is <br /> addressed on the plan set. <br /> Upon resubmission of the drawings, your application will be given priority and plan <br /> review will recommence. <br /> All required submittals shall be of sufficient detail and contain suff cient information to <br /> ensure that the proposed structure will be constructed in compliance with all adopted <br /> codes. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> _// <br /> y .
